Gene Pitney

gene pitney cries when he sings. at least that's part of the emotional charm that he expresses when he pours 105% of his soul into his songs. "only love can break your heart", "twenty four hours from tulsa", "something's gotten hold of my heart", "the man who shot liberty valance", "town without pity", "every breath i take", etc. each and every single one of them absolutely stunning. i remember reading that one critic called him rock's caruso. i believe that's about right.

he passed away this year on april 5, but this saturday morning once again he filled the air with his voice and strength, just as if he were rehearsing in my bedroom.

when things are this real, there's no denying them.

have a zip-a-dee-doo-dah day, everyone. kisses, hugs and handshakes.

I remember his song, It Hurts to be in Love.

Day and night,
night and day,
It hurts to be in love this way.

Sung only the way Gene Pitney could.
